Rode SC6-L Mobile Interview Kit with 2 Lavalier Microphones

The Rode SC6-L Mobile Interview Kit comes bundled with everything you need to quickly record two subjects at the same time to your iPhone, iPad, or iPod, making it ideal for capturing interviews, podcasts, and vlogs in crisp broadcast quality.

It features two Rode smartLav omnidirectional lapel microphones—complete with windscreens, clips, and a storage bag—and a Rode SC6-L ultracompact 2×2 Lightning audio interface. All you need to supply is your mobile device and a set of headphones.

Simply connect the SC6-L interface into your Lightning-equipped Apple device, plug both lavalier microphones into the interface, and open the Rode Reporter app (or your preferred audio/video app). For easy monitoring of your input signal or app playback, just hook up headphones to the SC6-L’s 3.5mm headphone port.

Rode SmartLav Lavalier Condenser Microphone for Smartphones with TRRS Connections

If you’re looking for a compact, easy-to-use lapel mic that plugs right into a phone’s TRRS jack, the Rode SmartLav  is the microphone for you. This mic offers a broadcast-quality sound in a tiny form factor, and can record to many phones and devices that offer 3.5mm TRRS connectivity.

No controls are on hand, which streamlines the process: simply clamp the mic to your subject (or yourself), plug the mic into the phone, and start recording. The mic will work with any app that records audio, including the built-in iOS Voice Memo App—but when you pair it with the iOS Rode Reporter APP, you’ll have access to a wide array of mixing, editing, and exporting tools. Perfect for electronic field production, run-and-gun news reporting, or simple mobile vlogs, the mic comes with a windshield, a durable clip, and a Kevlar-reinforced cable.

Great for the Field

The mic is easily hidden, but it offers an omnidirectional polar pattern that ensures you’ll get an even sound at any angle of address. This makes it great for run-and-gun sound pickup.

Handy Includes

The included windshield protects against plosives. The clamp makes mounting the mic a cinch. The cable is durable, being reinforced with Kevlar, so you won’t find it breaking on you in the field. When you’re done, store everything in the included carrying pouch.

Easy to Use

The mic offers no controls and operates in the analog domain. This makes operation a breeze: simply plug it in and play. There’s no software to install to make it compatible with your phone-unless you want to achieve extra functionalities, such as the ones highlighted in the next feature.

Compatible App

The SmartLav is compatible with any audio app that accepts input from the headset connection; however, it has been designed to pair perfectly with Rode’s Rec app for Apple iOS devices. Rode Rec turns the user’s iOS device into a fully featured field recorder, with a wide range of equalization presets to suit various recording situations, in addition to professional editing functions and the ability to publish to SoundCloud and Dropbox direct from the app.

Rode SC6-L Ultracompact 2×2 Lightning Audio Interface for iOS Devices

Swiftly record two-person interviews, podcasts, and vlogs straight to your iPhone, iPad, or iPod with the RODE SC6-L ultracompact 2×2 Lightning audio interface and a pair of TRRS-equipped microphones (mics available separately). Pocket-friendly and bus-powered, the SC6-L is perfect for keeping your setup small and simple while maintaining quality and enjoying app-based optimization.

At one end of the SC6-L, you’ll find two 3.5mm TRRS jacks to accept signal from microphones such as the Rode smartLav lapel mic, Rode VideoMics (in conjunction with TRRS adapters), and third-party microphones with the appropriate TRRS outputs. Between the two TRRS jacks is a 3.5mm headphone output for monitoring the incoming signal to make sure it is clean and free of distortion.

At the other end of the interface, a short cable is terminated with a Lightning connector, which connects directly to your iOS mobile device to facilitate convenient and clear recording at digital resolutions up to 24-bit / 48 kHz, making it a broadcast-quality unit.

Use the SC6-L with the Rode Reporter app to change preamp gain, switch between summed stereo or dual-mono record modes, and turn direct monitoring on or off, all from your Apple mobile device (iOS 11 or later required). Alternatively, you can use the SC6-L with other audio/video apps such as the onboard Camera app, GarageBand, Voice Memos, and more.

Easy Two-Person Recording

Strapped with the SC6-L and a couple TRRS microphones (available separately), you can easily capture two-person interviews, podcasts, and vlogs to your Lightning-equipped Apple mobile device in record time.

Dual 3.5mm TRRS Mic Inputs

Separate 3.5mm TRRS mic inputs are provided on the SC6-L to accommodate two TRRS microphones such as the Rode smartLav lapel mic, Rode VideoMics (in conjunction with TRRS adapters), and third-party microphones with the appropriate TRRS outputs.

Real-Time Headphone Monitoring

Connect earphones or headphones to the 3.5mm headphone port to monitor your input signal or the playback from a recording.

No Batteries Required

Since the SC6-L is bus powered through the Lightning connection to your iPhone, iPad, or iPod, no batteries are needed.

App-Based Optimization

When using the SC6-L with the Rode Reporter app, you can adjust the mic preamp gain, choose between summed stereo and dual-mono recording, and enable/disable direct monitoring from your Apple mobile device.
Note: For devices outfitted with iOS lightning ports, the SmartLav can make the connection using the standard TRRS to Lightning adapter kit, available separately.
