Today, that revolutionary spirit returns in the Artisan Space 5, meticulously crafted to meet the growing demand for compact headless basses. The traditional body has been replaced by a sleek and comfortable headless design, shedding weight, improving balance, and enhancing stage freedom. Despite its contemporary aesthetic, the Artisan Space 5 retains a whisper of classic bass sensibilities.

Maple Body with Poplar Burl Top(6mm)

The pairing of the Poplar burl top with the soft maple body achieves an excellent blend of rich, resonant lows and crisp, clear highs. Additionally, the exquisite wood grain of the Poplar burl enhances its natural, organic beauty.

New Space Body Shape

Inspired by the iconic Space basses of the 1980s, the Space 5 reinvents this classic for the modern era. Rooted in the esteemed Artisan Bass Series, it adopts the body and neck design but with innovative updates. Crafted for comfort and bold aesthetics, the Space 5 features deeper contours and adventurous cutaways, embracing the liberating essence of headless design. Enhanced by individual bridge saddles and integrated tuner knobs, this bass undergoes a transformative revival, emerging as a timeless icon reborn.

Bartolini® MK-1 Pickups and Active 3-band EQ Preamp​

The MK-1 maintains Bartolini’s signature sound while offering exceptional sound quality and value. It produces rich, punchy mids and clear, brilliant highs, creating a well-balanced audio experience. Equipped with an active 3-band EQ preamp, musicians can easily adjust low, mid, and high frequencies to achieve their desired tone with precision.

Specially Designed Hardware for Headless System

The headpiece and individual bridges were meticulously designed and extensively tested to guarantee optimal tuning stability and playing comfort, while maintaining the Space 5’s lightweight, compact, and user-friendly nature.

Zero Fret​

The zero fret performs the role of setting the string height over the fretboard when played open, traditionally handled by the bass nut. The nut remains crucial for guiding string spacing before reaching the tuners. Because the nut no longer affects open notes, players can freely switch string gauges without concerns about resizing or replacing the nut, avoiding any potential friction between the nut and strings.
